The Poker Players Alliance, the ACLU for poker players, has put together a petition to be presented to the President on July 22 during National Poker Week. So far, the response has been tremendous: over 300,000 poker players have added their names to the list of Americans demanding respect for their freedom to play a simple card game without federal intrusion. The petition is clear in its demands: poker is a skill-based card game, not a form of gambling that should be subject to the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.” This law is being used to seize poker players’ money and to crack down on banks that facilitate payment processing. The Department of Justice is interpreting this and other laws to prohibit all forms of Internet poker!
Sign the petition today and let the federal government know that poker is not a crime and players should not be treated like gamblers: Poker Petition.
